Can intoeing, or "pigeon toes", cause a delay in a baby learning to walk?
Many babies have a slight intoeing, also called pigeon toes, when they are born. This usually disappears during their toddler years. Pigeon toes are often caused by a condition called metatarsus adductus. This is a curve in the whole foot itself, usually created by the baby's position in the womb before birth. Toeing in and toeing out can sometimes cause problems. If your child seems to trip over rather more than normally, then observe them walking and see...

Babies that are crawling, starting to stand and learning to walk should be in a soft-soled shoe. When kids are learning to move and walk they are trying to feel the ground with their feet. If you put your child in hard-soled footwear too soon it will...
